AmerenUE Explains How Power Is Restored after a Major Storm

May 22, 2007

Approximately 30 community leaders and members of the media came to a storm restoration seminar staged May 18, 2007, at the 45 Minnesota Street Cape Girardeau Headquarters of AmerenUE's SEMO Division. WPSD Channel 6 TV, KTJJ Radio and the Southeast Missourian covered the session.

On hand to explain AmerenUE's storm restoration and preparation efforts were Jean Mason, SEMO Division manager, and AmerenUE Vice President for Public Relations Karen Foss, well-known former anchorwoman from KSDK-TV, St. Louis, Channel 5. David McKay, lineman-journeyman, showed Foss the view from a bucket truck that was also on display (photo on right).

Area mayors, fire chiefs, police chiefs and emergency management directors looked over completely equipped 53-foot mobile trailers that are moved to areas where line workers can get to supplies quickly during a storm. They also saw a mobile command center equipped with computers, satellite television, Internet and telecommunications gear used during major storms (photo on right).

More about Ameren’s plans and preparations for responding to storms.
